Career days

Career Days, the major annual networking fair organized by the Office of Career Services, celebrated its 45th anniversary this year in the digital space due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Nevertheless, and despite the trying circumstances, the event, which was rolled out between November 18-20, attracted great interest and participation on behalf of companies and students alike.

Many of the companies that traditionally join Career Days were there while new companies and organizations were added, including BMW, MCCANN ERICKSON, BDO CERTIFIED PUBLIC ACCOUNTANTS, KILPATRICK GROUP, MIT ENTERPRISE FORUM OF GREECE. Τhe companies that usually participate and faced limitations due to the special circumstances were sorry to miss the event and promised to join next year. Overall, 103 companies joined and were represented by 167 recruiters.

During the week leading up to the event, 138 students and recent graduates practiced their interview skills with experienced recruiters and received personalized advice and guidance on how to improve their performance prior to the actual Career Days. Within a single day, 163 mock interviews took place whereas 12 companies powered this year’s mock interviews: Adecco, Career in Progress, Cornerstone, Coca-Cola Tria Epsilon, Intersport, Kilpatrick, KPMG, OceansCaptain, OTE Group, Randstad, Manpower, SAP.

Deree students and alumni sought opportunities online and landed a whooping 3,600 interviews in the space of three days while 306 of them held one-to-one interviews with their preferred employers through live video conferencing.

On top of one-to-one interviews, participants had the opportunity to attend group video chats offered by companies, learn more about their corporate culture and available opportunities as well as view positions available per employer and watch corporate videos to help them select which companies to meet.

New, innovative features were added to the event enabling students to mark their preferred employers and have their resumes available to them afterwards. In the event that registered students failed to attend or meet one-to-one with a very popular employer, they still had the chance to connect with them after Career Days were over. In addition, training sessions were organized for employers prior to the event to help them navigate the Virtual Career Fair while they also received recorded webinars.    Employers could join the event from various locations with The Libra Group joining the event from New York.

Employers were particularly impressed by the innovation implemented in the event, the specialized platform on which the Virtual Career Fair was hosted and the event organization, praising it as “amazing”, “extremely useful”, without delays and problem-free!
